Who are the people behind the scenes, getting the word out about Ford Scholar Alumni Association events and writing the articles in the publications?

They are members of the FSAA Communications Committee.

Four FSAA board members serve on this committee as well as four non-board members who just want to be a part of the growing FSAA.

The Communications Committee helps get the word out to the community about the FSAA’s work by managing communications, gathering feedback, and curating stories. Members work with the other committees and the Ford Scholarship Office to coordinate messages about upcoming events, ways to get involved, and the election cycle.

Here are the people who help make great things happen within the FSAA.

Trina Allen is a Class of 1996 Ford Opportunity Scholar. She lives in Meridian, Idaho, and is a social worker. She is an FSAA board member at large and Communication Committee co-chairman.

Ahoefa Ananouko is a Class of 2010 Ford Scholar. She has a sociology degree from the University of Portland and is starting graduate school at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., studying public policy. She is a member at large and the co-chair of the Communications Committee.

Monica Solano-Molina is a Ford Scholar from the Class of 2010. She lives in Portland and works as a strategic insights analyst. She is an FSAA board member at large and is the liaison between the Communications Committee and Events Committee.

Daina Tague is also a Ford Scholar from the Class of 2010. She lives in Portland and is a social worker. She was recently elected FSAA secretary and is one of the newest members of the committee.

Holly Scholz is a Class of 1998 Ford Scholar. She lives in Redmond and works as a community newspaper reporter in Prineville. She became the FSAA Newsletter editor in 2003 and produced two newsletters a year until the recent change to the e-newsletter format and annual FSAA magazine. She writes and edits articles for these publications.

Tammara Ammerman is a Class of 1997 Ford Scholar. She lives in Vancouver, Washington, and works as a licensed child and family therapist and mental health specialist for Vancouver Public Schools. Her role on the committee is more supportive. She takes the notes during the meetings and has written a few small articles.

Tháo Duc Tu is a Ford Scholar from the Class of 1995. He lives in southeast Portland and is a radiologic technologist at The Vancouver Clinic. He also serves as president of the non-profit Vietnamese Community of Oregon. He is one of the newest committee members and is looking forward to working with the committee to bring more successful projects to the FSAA.

Sunny Jones is also new to the Communications Committee. She is a Class of 1999 Ford Scholar and lives in Salem. She works as a cannabis policy coordinator with the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
